With a staggering 11 million YouTube views and climbing, we supported Synapse Virtual Production in creating the latest Jackson Wang video—a visual feast set in a decaying circus that "comes alive" over the course of the song.
Echoing the tech wizardry of Wang's "Cruel" video, the combined team breathed life into a vast virtual world using Unreal Engine and displayed it on a colossal LED wall soaring 20ft high, sprawling 53ft wide and 32ft deep, and comprised of roughly 1,300, +2.3 pixel-pitch panels.
This video came with its own set of creative and technical challenges—including figuring out how to realistically cut someone in half, make each half dance independently, and then seamlessly join back together!
The effect was achieved by synching a robot arm with Unreal Engine to precisely control the motion and achieve true, zero-latency VFX.
From explosions and fires to weather, lighting, and even sawing people in half... virtual production provides unprecedented levels of control, efficiency, and jaw-dropping visuals. Strap in for the ride!
