Shooting In-Store — Without Customer Complaints

We are super proud of our latest work with Wegmans, which marks our second successful large-scale, in-store Wegmans shoot over the past year.

This is significant because Wegmans had banned in-store filming for years after in-store shoots—with other production companies—caused widespread customer complaints. After all, customers want to shop for groceries, not doge film crews or be unexpectedly spotlit by a 10,000 watt light!
Working together to determine schedules, crew size limitations, and myriad other variables and logistics, our indefatigable Optic Sky crew began shooting at 2:30am and continued until 1pm—and although the isles were often full of shoppers, we are proud to say that, for the second time in a row, there were a total of ZERO customer complaints!
Furthermore, we were able to create a highly efficient shoot schedule and complete all post-production in just one-and-a-half weeks. This provided more time upfront to use animatics and solidify all of the details in pre-production.

About the Spots

We helped Wegmans bring the focus back to its produce—which is better than what you will find in other stores due to the relationships Wegmans has with select farmers who maintain a commitment to quality, offer select stock, and can ensure their produce reaches Wegmans customers in perfect condition so that it can be enjoyed at peak ripeness.
Featuring old black and white photos from the archives of the “Rochester Fruit and Vegetable Co.,” the Wegmans organic farm, and scenes featuring longtime Wegmans employees, our latest for Wegmans connects exceptional produce to an exceptional attention to detail, quality, employees, and family.
